Company Overview

In 1987, company founder and President, Andrew S. Garrett, established a homebuilding company in Stafford, Virginia. Over time, he grew the company from construction of individual homes to multiple lots and eventually entire residential subdivisions with a focus on quality, custom homes in upscale communities. As the homebuilding operations flourished, the company evolved into the land acquisition business to provide inventory, but naturally began supplying other builders with lots as well. With the successes in the residential markets, the company ventured into commercial developments, constructing some smaller retail and office spaces.

After accumulating thousands of acres, the company’s homebuilding operation was sold to K. Hovnanian Homes in 2003. Garrett maintained an ample inventory of lots for future sales and began a number of local subdivisions as a part of the overall sale, while furthering its commercial development branch. Garrett has developed over two million square feet of commercial property since that time and still holds thousands of acres in its portfolio. While continuing successes of the past in both residential subdivision developments and commercial retail and office spaces, Garrett today is expanding and continuing to adapt to higher density retail and multifamily developments, as well as providing opportunities for master planned communities featuring a mix of uses and amenities for sustained future growth.
